A US teen has become the definition of a Good Samaritan after handing in a wallet containing US$10,000 that he
found on the street.
Rhami Zeini found the wallet in the middle of the road on his way home from school on Wednesday in Santa Barbara,
California.
The 16-year-old picked up the wallet, and when he opened it to look for identification, he discovered more money
than he'd ever seen in his life.
After speaking to his parents, he handed the wallet in to his local police station, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's
Office.
He told KCOY-TV it was simply "the right thing to do".
"If the roles were reversed and I had lost something with a significant sum of money inside, I know I would want it
back for sure," he said.

The Sheriff's Office has praised Mr Zeini, saying that the owner was "very grateful" when they contacted her to return
the wallet.
She told officers she believes the wallet was on the roof of the car when she drove away.
"Thank you Rhami for doing so many things right, from observing the purse in the first place, stopping to get it,
contacting your parents for help and for turning it in," the Sheriff's Office said in a post on Facebook.
"Rhami said he was just doing what he would want someone else to do if he lost something valuable."

Nice find, Ghost. Problem is, the kid should have kept the cash, burned the wallet and contents if someone didn't come find him inside of a month. Why? The 10 Grand in cash. The owner of the cash is now in a world of shit explaining WHY she has ten grand in cash outside of the bank. Under cash-asset forfeiture laws, the cops can even keep the money in a completely legal taking, the cash itself being proof of a crime the cops don't even have to define. That cash is gone, down the drain. Hell, it would take 10 Grand in lawyer's fees to even get a hearing. Them's the facts.

No one has to "explain" why they have 10k in cash. Not sure which country you reside in, but in United States it's legal and not a criminal offense to carry cash. Just because you yourself don't carry cash, or that amount, does not mean it strange or suspect when someone else does. I've done it, and had that amount mailed to me via FedEx so I could buy a vintage car for cash, this was about 8 yrs ago.

Just wondering- has the forum become an open forum now? I assumed it was for questions/announcements/issues with Texts at the Archive.org.

The police confiscate cash on a prove-where-you-got-it basis all the time. "This is the United States". What a laugh. The United States we USED to have is long gone. And the police confiscate cash and other assets at whim daily and it's legal. Read up on the subject.
